If you've seen Clario's booth at a baby fair or Pet Expo, or one of their videos on your feed, you're probably doing what every careful homeowner does: comparing before you commit.

Here's how the two systems compare, fact by fact, with credit given where Clario has earned it, so you can decide based on your own windows, cats and budget.

What Clario offers

Clario has become one of the most visible window mesh brands in Singapore, and they've earned that visibility. The brand was started by a Singapore dad who travelled to China to engineer his own invisible window mesh after being frustrated with the options available, and the product has since been featured by local creators like Runner Kao and the Daily Ketchup team.

The product itself is a high-transparency polyester mesh, marketed as "invisible", that they advertise as holding up to 70 kg of weight. It comes in three variants (Guard, View and Shield), plus a Duo version that combines the mesh with built-in blinds. They offer in-home demos, and back the product with a 5-year warranty.

That's a solid package. If you came away from their booth impressed, that's fair.

What MeshMates offers

MeshMates takes a different approach. Instead of one mesh in a few variants, we build five retractable frame models around different windows, budgets and cats.

ModelLoad bearingBest for
Base20+ kgInsects and chill pets
Core50+ kgMost homes with cats
Pro70+ kgActive cats, long windows
Sleek40+ kgTight spaces, rubbish chutes
Door70+ kgSliding and swing doors

The bigger difference is material choice. Depending on the model, you can pair the frame with polyester for maximum clarity, stainless steel 316 for clarity plus scratch resistance, pet mesh for active cats, or reinforced stainless steel 316 on the Sleek, the industrial-grade weave that can take even pen-knife cuts. There are also sunshade and blackout mesh options on the Pro and Door if you want light control built into the mesh itself.

We also handle the less standard setups: windows with existing grilles, windows with moving blinds, and awkward tight recesses. Our standard installation is drill-free, using specialised adhesive and silicone rather than screws.

One tip for a fair comparison: the MeshMates model to line up against Clario's range is the Pro. It sits in the same class on every spec that matters here, with a 70+ kg load rating and a high-transparency polyester option. If you've had a Clario demo, comparing that quote against a Pro quote for the same windows is the quickest way to see the real difference.

Where Clario does well

Clario's 5-year warranty is the longest we've seen in this category. And if you want mesh and blinds in one integrated unit, the Duo is a neat product.

Where MeshMates differs

Two things, mainly.

  • More materials to match your cat. A high-transparency polyester is one answer. But a cat that scratches daily is better matched with pet mesh, and if you want clear views plus claw resistance, stainless steel 316 covers both. One material can't be the best answer for every cat, which is why we carry seven.
  • Non-standard setups. Existing grilles, moving blinds, tight recesses, rubbish chutes. These are the situations we built the Sleek and our installation methods around, so a complicated window doesn't mean going without mesh.

So which should you choose?

If a long warranty matters most to you, Clario is a fair pick. If you want more options, and an installer that helps you find the most suitable solution, that's exactly what MeshMates is built for.

The best move either way: get a quote from both for your actual windows, and compare like for like. Same openings, same mesh area, same accessories. Frequently asked questions

Is Clario mesh good for cats?

Based on their published specs, Clario advertises a load capacity of up to 70 kg, which is in the right range for cat safety. Whichever brand you pick, the load rating of the whole system (mesh, frame and fixing) is what keeps a cat safe, so ask how the number applies to your window size. Our explainer on the strongest window mesh covers how to read these ratings.

Can I get window mesh if I already have blinds installed?

Yes. Clario's answer is the Duo, which builds blinds into the mesh unit. Ours is to install mesh that works around your existing moving blinds, or to use sunshade or blackout mesh on the Pro. We've covered the options in our guide to window mesh with blinds.
