Can You Install Window Mesh If You Have Blinds?

One of the most common reasons Singapore homeowners give up on window mesh: "I have blinds, so it won't work." Some installers reinforce this by simply declining the job the moment they see roller blinds or day-night blinds at the window.

The good news is that blinds and mesh can absolutely coexist. There are three ways to do it, and the right one depends on what's already at your window.

Why blinds complicate mesh installation

A retractable mesh frame mounts in or around the window opening, which is the same space your blinds occupy. If the mesh frame is placed without thinking, it blocks the blind from rolling down, or the blind's chain and bottom rail get in the way of the mesh track. Neither product is the problem; careless placement is.

That's also why "do you have blinds?" should be one of the first questions any installer asks you. If they don't ask, ask them.

Mesh installed around your existing blinds

If your blinds are already up and you like them, the cleanest solution is a mesh frame positioned so both operate independently. The blind rolls up and down inside, the mesh slides across in its own track, and neither touches the other.

This takes proper measurement of the recess depth and the blind's drop path, which is why many providers don't offer it.
